30 years in the dealership world—and I’ve seen it all.
I’ve heard, “Help us out.”
I’ve heard, “Take care of the customer.”
I’ve heard, “Do what’s best for the dealership.”
But in 30 years, I can’t remember hearing enough of one thing:
“Let’s take care of the technician.”
The automotive industry has become the belly of the beast when it comes to how technicians are paid and compensated for the work we actually perform. We carry the tools, the training, the certifications, the pressure, the comebacks, the warranty times, and the responsibility of getting the vehicle fixed right—yet too often, the technician is the last person anyone thinks about protecting.
For many technicians, it has become a lonely battle—one technician, one toolbox, one repair order at a time.
But it’s good to know we are not alone. There are thousands of hardworking technicians fighting the same fight, trying to earn an honest living in an industry we have dedicated our lives to.
After 30 years, I still believe our profession deserves better.
Respect the skill. Respect the sacrifice. Respect the technician. 🔧💪
Blessings, folks. 🙏
