5 years in industry or adjacent. 3 years at this dealer, two as somewhat of an apprentice and 6 months as flat rate tech.
State master certified. Not so many ford certs as I hate homework and manager sucks at registering me for in person training in a timely manner
$35.50/hr with a door rate of $220/hr. Dealer owner promised everyone a raise when door rate was increased from 180 like a year and a half ago. That never happened. Instead they’re buying up other dealers around southeast Michigan.
There’s very little workflow at the dealer. Parking lot is small and rarely full. Everyone hogs work and there’s rarely an RO in the new work tray. As a heavy tech with one lift and one flat, big jobs screw me over because I have nowhere to diagnose the next job while I got the first one on my one hoist. Been struggling to turn 20 hours a week. Partially motivation related.
Currently stuck doing used cars with a service manager only interested in putting the cheapest possible tires and doing the barest of minimums on ford ST cars, Lincolns, and Cadillacs we get a lot of trade ins.
